THE Z PIPE
-
FORMULA Z

The Z-Pipe by Formula Z Performance is an innovative, patent-pending dual-exhaust crossover designed as a superior replacement for a traditional X-pipe or H-pipe. Originally developed in 2017 and refined over time, the Z-Pipe is built to improve exhaust flow, increase scavenging, reduce turbulence, and create a cleaner, crisper higher pitched exhaust note.

DESIGN STYLES AND FITMENT GUIDE

The Z pipe by Formula Z comes in 6 main styles, in various sizes, and materials. 316 Stainless steel is the most commonly used material but GR5 Titanium and 625 Inconel are available as well

CLASSIC STYLE

The Classic model is the main fitment for most modified vehicles. It is generally the correct model for most front-

engine cars where the exhaust runs rearward through the transmission or exhaust tunnel and exits out the back of the vehicle.

OPPOSING STYLE

The Opposing model is not only for Porsche 911 applications, but it was originally created to solve the specific

packaging problem found in rear-engine 911 layouts. With the engine behind the rear axle, there is very little

lengthwise room for exhaust routing, mufflers, resonators, and bumper clearance.

hotrod style

The Hotrod style is based on the Classic architecture but with a 45-degree Inlet AND Outlet.  These fit particularly well on older “box framed” vehicles, Hotrods, Ratrods as well as tube framed vehicles.

The Center Exit model was originally designed for GT3 and GT4-style cars, where the exhaust exits through the

center of the bumper. It has since been used on a wider range of custom and off-road builds.

supercar style

The Supercar model covers the vast majority of mid-engine vehicles. It was originally designed around a nearly

plug-and-play exhaust system for the McLaren 720S, but the layout has proven useful across many mid-engine

platforms. These fit very well on the Aud R8 V8/V10, Lamborghini Huracan/Aventador/

45° in - 0° out

The 45-degree inlet Classic is very similar to the straight-inlet Classic, but it has integrated 45-degree bends at

the inlet side. These built-in bends help packaging and can allow the Z-Pipe to sit farther forward in the car.

Hot off the press is the Oval Tubing Z-pipe.  Profiled to match the Vibrant Performance (R) Oval tubing in 3.00”, 3.50” and 4.00” sizes.  The Oval Z-pipe is available in the straight inlet and outlet orientation, 45-degree inlet/straight outlet, as well as our Hotrod style (45-degree inlet AND outlet).

The C8 Z06 and ZR1 Corvettes use a specific model because of their four centrally mounted exhaust tips. This is

not the same application as the non-Z C8 cars, although some GrandSport and E-rays are converting to Z06/ZR1

rear bumpers/4 central tips.

The newest production model is the Ultra-Narrow.  Exactly as it’s named, this unit is a more compact variation of our highly successful Classic model.   Available only as straight inlets and outlets.  In 3.00” size, it’s 1.24” narrower vs a Classic, allowing proper clearances in even the tightest of tunnels.
