A common D17.1 aerospace certifications is a thin wall 0.25" tube to plate. often .016" and .035". Often a smaller filler rod such as ".020 used for this test.
The test often includes a cut and etch, FPI (flourescent penetrant inspection) along with a metrology inspection (to measure toelines and weld profile).
The test requires meeting bead profile standards, with full root fusion, and without any burn through on the inner diameter (I.D.) of the tube.
This kit includes 20 sheets of "0.030 304 STAINLESS STEEL sheet, and 20 tubes of 304 stainless with a machined edged. All cleaned and prepped for welding (most tests will be either 321 or 347 but this will get you ready)
This is a great way to practice control, restarts, and getting comfortable with feeding filler rod.
After using 0.020" filler rod, other common filer rods feel much easier
Test kit includes:
Test fixture
20pieces of testing material
A small batch of 0.020" filler rod
